The division of labor and responsibilities is often a challenging topic for many couples affected by ADHD. Historically, women have sought equality in their relationships, expecting tasks and responsibilities to be shared evenly. But in relationships where one partner has ADHD, this traditional idea of equality doesn’t always work. Neurotypical expectations can clash with the ADHD way of thinking and functioning, creating frustration and misunderstandings.
In this episode, Elaine, David, and I continue our discussion on ADHD marriage and partnership and dive into this very topic. We explore why equity—rather than strict equality—can create a more balanced and harmonious relationship.
